Duties included
leasing and contracting state owned property. Managing and
maintaining property during the leased period. Assisting with the
Relocation Assistance Process in which property owners or given reasonable
assistance to move to another property. Assisting in the design
process with the Utilities and Design Divisions predicting possible issues
that were not seen in the beginning and finally making the adjustments
deemed necessary. Oversight of contractors during the environmental cleanup
and demolition process. Finally handing over the clean and cleared
property over to the Caltrans Construction Division.
1/13 - 9/14 Right of Way Acquisitions
Duties included working with the Design Division to determine which
properties were necessary for a project also making changes to the design
when necessary. Reviewing the appraisal and property to determine if
the appraisal justly covers all areas visibly affecting the property owner
and making adjustments if necessary to the appraisal/appraised value.
Meeting with property owners that are affected by highway projects to
explain the project, why their property is being affected and the portion
of their property that State has found necessary for the project.
Listen to any questions and concerns of the property owner; then answer the
questions and try and clear up any issues. Make an offer per the
State’s appraisal and negotiate a mutually agreed upon value. Process
Deeds and payment packages through an internal or external escrow when
necessary.
9/14 - Current Right of Way Project Coordination
Duties include oversight
of all areas of the Right of Way process which include: Design;
Engineering/Mapping; Appraisals; Acquisitions; Relocation; Property
Management; and Construction. It is my duty to make sure that every
Division is working in a timely manner to meet deadlines and is staying
within the allocated budget. Working closely with all of the
Divisions it is my duty to be able to anticipate possible issues based on
the information that I receive. If an issue occurs in which the
deadline or budget will be affected it is my duty to try and resolve the
issue or make the appropriate adjustments to the deadlines and/or
budget.
